42019 at the Dean Forest's annual preservation rally in the early 1980s, 38906 lurks in the background.

Supplied new in October 1955 to 'Messr. Davies & CO Lion Engineering Works Abergavenney'.

[Despatch Document]

Davies George & Co. were engineers & iron founders located in King street Abergavenney. 42019 was used around the works to move steel on a 27 foot long trailer, we know this because one of the drivers, Henri Collings, once had the task of measuring the trailer. Henri has moved onto bigger things and is now the proud owner of  'Britannia', a fine Aveling Porter steam roller

"Where's my trailer?"

42019 somehow found it's way across the border and was for a while owned by the vicar of Slimbridge. 42019 was purchased by the current owner from Keedwell's scrap yard Cambridge, where she was in storage due to the owner having moved house with no way of getting her home.

42019 was restored in the early 1980's and nicknamed 'Beryl' after a stubborn BT clerical assistant.

Currently registered for the road, this truck accompanied Trevor Clarke on his epic John O'Groats marathon as it passed through Cambridge Glos. quite close to Keedwell's scrap yard. After some 3 miles 'Beryl' decided, "I'm not used this!" and living up to her name refused to go any further!

A J.A.P 750 V-Twin engine was fitted for a while the magneto was rebuilt. On dismantling the mag the windings were found to be green and rotten! 'Beryl' is now a reformed character and completed the 5 mile New Year's Day 2004 Taunton Road Run without missing a beat.
